The current Windows validation builds require a directly attached NTFS USB drive. A network share, cloud-synced folder, exFAT volume or internal-drive folder is not a protected content workspace. Check the drive and free space without formatting it. In All files, import or drop actual files from outside the vault on the bound external drive. Internal-drive files must first be placed on that drive by the user. Give an edited copy a distinct name and save it encrypted in the current vault. The original stored item stays intact. Wait for saving and any backup to finish, then lock and exit before safely removing the drive. A plaintext outside export is a deliberate disclosure to whoever can access that output. Content caches may be readable on the external workspace during a session; interrupted cleanup has limits.
